Warning: Have earplugs standing by, ’cause One Tree Hill fans around the world may soon let out a collective squeal.
Inside sources close to the show have just confirmed to me exclusively that Sophia Bush is dating her Tree Hill costar James Lafferty. “They’re definitely together,” says one insider who works on the CW series.
Requests for comment from both personal representatives have so far not been returned.
Turns out, it was Sophia’s ex-husband (and yes, James’ and Sophia’s fellow OTH costar) Chad Michael Murray who first spilled the beans…
During an interview with a local CW news affiliate (see video below), Chad was asked about his relationship and failed marriage to Sophia and responded:
“It’s one of those things where you grow up a lot faster. You’re put in a situation where you’re gonna deal with things right in your face. But I think [Sophia and I] are both professional and mature enough to get through it. And now it’s just easy. We’re just friends. And she’s got James, and James and I are friends. It’s just a little tight group in Wilmington.”
Sophia and James also were spotted recently at Los Angeles International Airport (see photo above). Her brief marriage to Murray ended in 2005 after only five months. They for dated nearly two years before he popped the question.
So what do you fans think of James and Sophia as a couple? Seems a pretty sweet match, doesn’t it?
And even better, somewhere Nanny Carrie is rolling in her grave…

OTH - Episode 8 Our Life is not a Movie or Maybe Review
Tonight was an ok night for me. Nothing gripping. A few things to mention though.
Good to see Peyton and Derek both well. Most of that just seemed set up for the USO concert but whatever, it was good to see them.
Nathan and Owen outside Brooke’s door was hilarious but honestly the whole thing with Owen and Brooke was awkward and I wouldn’t be surprised if it didn’t work out at this point. Didn’t feel any chemistry there at all tonight.
I remember when my thoughts first started changing towards Q and tonight my first heartstring was tugged on by Sam. She was truly sorry. And great acting from Ashley!
Lucas and Haley’s scene was so cute. Definitely a YouTube moment.
Nathan and Haley were cute together. At least she was on top him. Now only if he would flip over….haha. Kids, close your ears…er, shut your eyes…whatever!
Gigi needs to go away. Still annoying and not cute this season. I do have to say she looks beautiful. Maybe she can have Owen and call him Sexy all the time. Now I would go for THAT.
I think that’s all the memorable stuff. What’d you think?

I LOVE TV: “One Tree Hill” bides its time till sweeps
Monday night’s episode of the locally filmed drama series “One Tree Hill” was what I like to call a filler episode. After the craziness of Nanny Carrie and angst of Peyton’s daddy visit, we got a quieter, sweeter episode that focused on relationships. The Scotts helped Jamie deal with a bully. Peyton and Lucas had their own “War of the Roses” as she finally moved in with him. And Brooke took one step back, two steps forward with foster kid Sam.
The whole episode seemed like a reset button to shake out the storylines of earlier this year — one final farewell to Quentin, Mouth is back at his old job, Brooke reconnects with Owen. And even though she’s been saying she wanted to get back into singing for a while, Haley finally belted out “I Want Something That I Want” with guest star Grace Potter.
Last week, I was talking about how Mark Schwahn has signed on to a seventh season but the cast has not, and while your responses overwhelmingly supported a seventh year, I’m curious:
Would you support a seventh season of “One Tree Hill” that didn’t include all five main characters (Peyton, Lucas, Nathan, Brooke and Haley)? Would it be OK if Sophia or Bethany Joy left but everyone else stayed, for example? Could the show go on without Lucas? Without Nathan? Discuss….

OTH - Brooke’s New Love Interest?!
Brooke’s (Sophia Bush) got a new love interest! Hot man Austin Nichols of Friday Night Lights and John From Cincinnati fame will be heading to One Tree Hill to canoodle for a while. Yum! Also, Robbie Jones (Quentin) told me this weekend, “I’ve actually been authorized to say yes, Quentin will be coming back. Very exciting. Actually, I’m leaving to go back next week to shoot a little more.” So there you have it! We have definitely not seen the last of Q in the little town of Tree Hill.

OTH - Episode 7 Messin’ with the Kid Review
I had a great time with this episode. What a great, light-hearted time watching everyone tonight. Well, almost everyone. Let’s go down a list here!
I have to start out with Lucas and Peyton. How much fun was that?? The dream really surprised me. All week I’ve been saying since when is Lucas so messy?? Glad to see I hadn’t missed a character flaw. LOL. It was just so good to see them have fun. And Leyton didn’t seem so corny. Sometimes when they have fun, it’s corny–think Season 4. Tonight was silly, yes, but it was pretty true to life. No, maybe my husband and I have never taped our house but figuring each other out? Laughing in bed? Arguing about music? Discussing magazine articles? Yes, it’s all there and it was so good to see Peyton and Lucas together. Not be dramatic. Not be cheesy. Just be a couple. It was wonderful.
Fergalicous. Need I say more?
So it was Owen’s big explanation tonight. I loved that Brooke gave him such a hard time for us all. Loved the Jerk comment the whole way through. But I liked that they tied in his explanation to his childhood. Brooke can relate to that right? And Brooke was still feelin’ it. I loved her little smirk when she closed the door on him the last time. That definitely isn’t the last we’ll see of them. Go Browen!
It was good seeing Brooke and Sam. I liked that they didn’t make it easy. I can’t imagine having a teen foster child I think they even let Brooke off pretty easy actually.
May I say Nathan playing slamball is hot. Period.
And him with Jamie saving the day..hot dad? Hot.
Nice to at least a few Naley scenes in there. They’re so cute together.
Loved all the Scott comments by Dan, Nathan AND Jamie.
Jamie’s face at the end was SO cute!
The poncho! I can’t believe they brought up the poncho. Loved it!
And speaking of bringing things back…Gigi’s back! And it doesn’t see like she’s changed a whole bunch except lost her glasses and started having sex…and a lot apparently. Can we say TMI??
Grace and Haley were great together. I can’t wait to have Haley back to doing what she loves.
And may I say I didn’t miss Skeb in this episode?
Loved Dan protecting his family with that kid’s mom. He’s like the head of the mob or something. Love it!
So what’d you think? Too light-hearted for our show? Just what we needed after a heavy start to our season?

One Tree Hill - James Van Der Beek to guest
Welcome home, Dawson! James Van Der Beek will return to his old Dawson’s Creek stomping grounds in Wilmington N.C. this month to shoot an episode of One Tree Hill that will air in late November. Van Der Beek — who memorably depicted a serial killer on Criminal Minds in 2007 — will play a director who’s interested in making a movie out of Lucas’ (Chad Michael Murray) novel. “The specter of Dawson’s Creek is always around us,” says Mark Schwahn, who exec produces Hill on the same production lot in Wilmington that was once used by Creek. “We’re about to [complete] 128 episodes, which is what Dawson’s did,” says Schwahn. “So I thought it would be cool to get James.”

One Tree Hill’s James Lafferty introduces us to the sport of SlamBall
Ever heard of SlamBall? We hadn’t either, until we found out about the crazy sport’s appearance on One Tree Hill starting tonight (The CW, 9 p.m ET). It’s a full-contact basketball-hockey-football hybrid, with TRAMPOLINES. Seriously, trampolines. As SlamBall website user djdchamp93 so eloquently puts it, “this is wat nba shud look lyk.”
In terms of made-up sports, we were feeling like SlamBall ranked up there with Quidditch, so we asked James Lafferty — who plays Nathan, the promising NBA prospect/high school hoops star-turned-paralyzed alcoholic-turned-less-promising NBA prospect/high school hoops coach — to kindly explain what, exactly, it entails. “[Slamball] is like the closest thing to flying you can do without jumping out of an airplane or being strapped to a harness and swung around,” he says. “It’s set on a spring-loaded wood floor with a basketball hoop on each end. It’s the size of a normal basketball court. Each basket is at ten feet, and under each hoop there is an area that goes from courtside to courtside that has four trampolines. The entire court is surrounded by Plexiglass.”
If you want to play (or watch), you need to learn the lingo: “‘Juice the tramps’ is basically manipulating the trampoline to get the highest jump that you possibly can,” Lafferty says, and “‘Popcorn’ is when a defensive player jumps [on the trampoline] at the same time or right before you’re trying to shoot and takes your jump away.”
addCredit("Andrew Eccles")
OTH executive producer Mike Tollin is a partner in SlamBall, which airs Sundays on Versus through Oct. 26. Aha, so that’s how they came up with the idea. But, as Lafferty argues, it’s actually not too unbelievable for Nathan to play. “It fit right into the storyline of Nathan trying to make his way back to the NBA,” he says. “SlamBall seems like a way to showcase his athletic abilities and [prove] he is healthy enough to play again.”
If you’re a OTH fan, you appreciate his effort to explain the logic, but you know it’s unnecessary: This insane-sounding spectacle fits right in with the show’s nonstop, out-of-left-field drama ever since it wisely skipped over the Tree Hill High gang’s college years and inserted them straight into their early twenties. A spoiler from last week’s show for the uninitiated: a crazy nanny attempts to kidnap a small child for the second time while holding his grandfather, who’s in need of a heart transplant, hostage in a fake hospital bed. She chases the small child through a cornfield and dies via a magnificent axe/gun combo assault. Follow? “The Nanny Carrie storyline has got to be up there — definitely in the top three,” Lafferty admits. “That one was pretty good.”

OTH - Season 6 Episode 6 Choosin’ My Own Way of Life Review
OK, here’s my rundown!
SO glad that Carrie is GONE. It was like normal had returned to Tree Hill. OMG.
I have to say I wish Nathan would cut Dan some slack. Yes, he killed your father, but he saved your WIFE and SON. And he truly seems remorseful and just wants that relationship back. And really Dan bent over backwards for Nathan and his basketball. I know sometimes it was too much but it would be so great for Dan to share in this time with Nathan getting back into ball.
And speaking of…so great to see Nathan excited about ball. Of course loved the little bit of Naley we got at the end.
Owen’s back! Yippee! Jamie and him were so cute together. I love how Owen said he screwed it up. At least a hint that they are going to deal with that.
I felt SO, SO, SO bad for Lucas and his book signing. Wow. I was not expecting that. Poor guy. I understand the concept of family being more important and I love how he said Peyton was so important to him but wow. I was embarrassed for him.
I think Mick and Peyton were good tonight. I think Mick finally showed that he and Ellie made the right choice. I think Peyton saw that and got some closure. I liked how he brought in Ellie and said how she never got over it. I liked that it was HER coin that he had, showing that he wasn’t ever really sober (I did get that right, right?). I liked how they pulled in her People Always Leave picture. I like how Peyton called Larry at the end.
I think this Sam and Brooke thing is going to be good. It was nice to see how they tied in Peyton’s adoption and Brooke’s line with Sam. For some reason, I’m much better dealing with this foster parent idea rather than Angie.
I’m so glad Brooke finally told Peyton the truth. I’m glad Peyton made it clear how upset she was that Brooke didn’t say anything. And I’M REALLY glad Peyton is the one that saw the mirror and finally was like, ok, what’s up? Good to see them close again.
Not sure how I feel about Mouth coming back. I’m a fan of Mouth’s and I don’t know, we spent all of Season 5 trying to get him to the point he is and then he’s going to pull a Brooke and Peyton and head home. I just wish we could know that he’s being successful for a little while longer.
I think that got it all. There were no major highs and no major lows. It was a good episode about everyone deciding their future. Nathan chooses slamball, Brooke faces her past and moves forward with Sam and her “bucket list”, Peyton moves past her dad, Mouth chooses Tree Hill, Lucas (forcefully) leaves his book tour. A lot of decisions were made tonight so I think it will be interesting to see what happens as we move forward and they all have to deal with them.

Mark Schwahn inks trio of TV deals
Mark Schwahn is mixing television and music with three new deals.
The “One Tree Hill” creator has inked a two-year exclusive overall deal with CBS Paramount Network TV and a pact with CBS Records to launch his own imprint.
Additionally, Schwahn has inked a one-year agreement with Warner Bros. TV, which co-produces “Hill” with Tollin/Robbins Prods., to continue as executive producer and showrunner on the CW series, a major step towards a potential seventh-season pickup for the ensemble drama.
Under the pact with CBS Par TV, which begins in June, Schwahn will develop new series projects. That is a long way from his early days as a filmmaker who never considered a career in television until he hit a brick wall trying to get a feature script made for a basketball-themed drama set in high school. Brian Robbins, Mike Tollin and Joe Davola of Tollin/Robbins — which produced two movies penned by Schwahn, “The Perfect Score” and “Coach Carter” — suggested he should try reworking the project as a TV series.
“The first thing out of my mouth was: ‘I don’t want to do TV,’ ” Schwahn said. “I was such a knucklehead feature writer.”
He later reconsidered, and the ill-fated feature script became “One Tree Hill.” Schwahn never regretted it.
“I really have embraced television,” he said. “The writer has creative control in television, and it’s very fulfilling to make a mini feature every nine days.”
“Hill” has been creatively reinvigorated this season with the series’ four-year jump into the future. And paired with “Gossip Girl,” it has turned Monday into a flagship night in the ratings for the CW, making a renewal for “Hill” a no-brainer. With Schwahn on board — CBS Par has agreed to loan him out to work on “Hill” one last season if it is renewed while developing for CBS Par — the only hurdle is signing the cast, with talks under way to lock them in.
Schwahn said he is happy to stay at WBTV to run the show he loves, but for his future TV endeavors, he felt CBS Par was the best fit.
“Warner Bros. has been a wonderful home, but CBS Paramount embraced the entrepreneurial spirit of what I’d like to do,” he said.
That entrepreneurial spirit includes venturing into the music business with his deal at CBS Records.
Music has always been close to Schwahn’s heart: He was once in a band and describes himself as “a frustrated musician who wasn’t good but wanted to be great.”
Music has had a very strong presence on “Hill,” whose episodes Schwahn names after songs. The show constantly features music and performances by artists like Gavin DeGraw, whose popularity skyrocketed after his track “I Don’t Wanna Be” became the show’s theme song. What’s more, “Hill” has a major music-themed plotline built around Payton (Hilarie Burton), allowing the introduction of aspiring musicians as recurring characters played by up-and-coming artists like Kate Voegele and Tyler Hilton.
Schwahn said he hopes to take his support for young musical talent up another level with his CBS Records deal, working with Larry Jenkins, head of CBS Records, and Amy Osler, head of CBS Par TV’s music division.
“It really comes from a pure place. I’m a fan of music, I feel I have a good ear for it and I would love to be able to help shine a light on new artists and new music even more than what I can do via ‘One Tree Hill,’ ” he said.
Music also will continue to be a big part of Schwahn’s TV projects. For instance, one of the series ideas he is looking to tackle under the CBS Par deal is set in the music industry.
Schwahn is repped by Endeavor and attorneys Jared E. Levine and Kevin Yorn.

‘One Tree Hill’ fans keeping show alive
WILMINGTON, N.C. — When One Tree Hill made its debut in the fall of 2003, creator Mark Schwahn recalls, the ratings were so low that “Even my mother didn’t know we were on the air.”
“We were the lowest-rated show on any channel the week we debuted, but we were the only show to pick up every week for the next six weeks.”
Backed by an ardent fan base, who still travel from all over the world to coastal North Carolina in hopes of seeing one of the show’s young stars, One Tree Hill has survived to a sixth season, on Mondays, on the CW. It reached the magic 100 episodes needed for syndication in March, and with this season it matches the tenure of Dawson’s Creek.
“When we were in our second and third seasons, it was not fathomable to me that we would be here today,” actor James Lafferty said.
Schwahn originally pitched the show as a movie titled The Ravens, but it became a series about half brothers — played by Lafferty and Chad Michael Murray — in the fictional town Tree Hill, N.C., who compete both on and off the basketball court.
“We have never been supported by a big PR push or big marketing campaign,” said Sophia Bush, who as Brooke Davis competes for the affections of Lucas Scott (Murray).
“We really have never been anybody’s baby the way that shows that sort of have a guarantee of multiple seasons generally are,” she said. “So for us, it’s really been every year about our fans and their loyalty bringing us back and putting us back on the air.”
Still, the show was growing stale when Schwahn decided before the start of season five to move everything forward by four years, skipping the characters’ time in college.
“When Mark said, ‘I want to do this,’ I was so relieved,” said Bush, 26. “The last thing I wanted to do was go to college on the show. We’ve all seen the college years, and they don’t work — ever.”
The aging of One Tree Hill reinvigorated both the actors and the show’s fans. The average ratings rebounded to 3.5 million viewers in season five, the same as in the show’s first.
“When we made the decision, I think everybody here was excited. I know I was. Just the opportunity to play a little bit closer to your age,” said Murray, 27.
Nathan Scott (Lafferty) and Haley James (Bethany Joy Galeotti) are struggling with the trials of marrying and having a child.
Peyton Sawyer (Hilarie Burton), another love interest for Lucas, is the owner of Red Bedroom Records.
“Peyton’s gone from being such an extremist in high school, which was hard for me because I’m pretty mellow, to being a calmer adult,” said Burton, 26.
The contracts for the rest of the cast are up at the end of this season, but Schwahn and executive producer Joe Davola said the studio and the network are talking about a seventh.
